What Is Dead Sea Salt?
Source: http://www.sfbsc.com/what-is-dead-sea-salt
Dead Sea salt is salt from the Dead Sea, which is Located
between Jordan and Israel, the Dead Sea is the source of our Dead
Sea Salt.
The Dead Sea is actually a lake, and is known for being the lowest
point on earth. It has been recognized for centuries as a center for
wellness and health, thanks to the low air pollution and temperate
climate. The shores are lined with hotels, resorts, and health spas.
People travel to the Dead Sea to enjoy the many cosmetic and
medicinal benefits of Dead Sea salt water, and those who can’t make
the trip can enjoy the same benefits at home, using mud masks or
bath salts. The water is filled with salt. So much, in fact,
that swimmers simply float on the top of the water, so buoyant they
resist sinking. The water that comprises the Dead Sea is like no
other water on earth – it holds 33% salt, – 10 times the amount of
salt found in other sea water, which holds around 3% salt.
The salt itself is unique as well.
When you look at it, it’s often dull and off-white in color, in
contrast to the brightness of ordinary salt. Dead Sea salt tastes
bitter when compared to the salt you buy at the store – this is due
to the fact that Dead Sea salt has almost no sodium (10%) when
compared to table salt (90%). The salts found in the Dead Sea are
mineral salts. All ocean salt contains minerals, but the salts of
the Dead Sea contain a much higher concentration of minerals than
other salts. These minerals include zinc, iodine, potassium,
calcium, bromides, and many more. These minerals are naturally
occurring in the human body and are crucial to many processes, and
need to be replenished regularly as they are lost.
Soaking in Dead Sea salt does wonders
for your body. Skin problems, such as rashes, sores, hives, and
itching, can be treated by soaking in a hot bath filled with these
amazing salts. Dead sea salts contain large amounts of magnesium and
bromide, which cleanse and disinfect your skin, making you less
susceptible to skin-related allergies. Dead Sea salt also treats
acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema, dandruff, scabies and
seborrhea. Dead Sea salts are also effective in combating hair loss,
water retention, and cellulite.
The benefits of Dead Sea salts don’t
stop there. Stress, an ailment that affects us all, is greatly
reduced when you take regular baths with Dead Sea salts. As your
circulation improves, your heart rate decreases. The warmth of the
water and the minerals of the salts work together to relax your
mind, your body, and spirit. After a long bath, you feel rejuvenated
and refreshed. You will be relaxed from the inside out, and you’ll
sleep better than ever before. Because of this, Dead Sea salt is
also a fabulous treatment for insomnia.
Dead Sea salt is only effective when
used in its pure form. Many commercial bath salts are treated and
washed – and during this process, many of the valuable minerals are
lost. The Dead Sea Salts we use are unwashed and unprocessed, making
a long soak in the tub just as therapeutic as a soak in the Dead
Sea!
Bathing in high quality
sea salt could replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin
metabolism. We add Dead Sea Salt to every batch of our cold
processed soap to help your skin maintain a proper moisture balance.
The minerals in Dead Sea Salt are essential to a healthy skin.
These salts are known to relieve skin ailments such as Psoriasis, Eczema
and Acne.
The waters of the Dead Sea have been renowned for their therapeutic
effects since ancient times.
Dead
Sea Salts throughout history have been known to help heal the human
body.
Waters from the Dead Sea are unique. They contain 27% of various
salts as compared to 3% in normal sea water.
While
sodium accounts for approximately 80% of the salt content of normal sea
water,
it comprises much less of the salt total in water from the Dead Sea.
The balance of the salts in Dead Sea water are magnesium, potassium,
calcium chloride
and bromides.
Why are these salts beneficial?
Magnesium -
important for both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin
aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium - is effective in
preventing water retention, helping to increase circulation and
strengthen bones and nails. Potassium - energizes our body,
helping to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish
following intense exercise. Bromides - acts to relax and ease muscle
stiffness. Sodium - important for the lymphatic fluid balance
(this in turn is important for immune system function).
In as
little as one week of adding a 10% salt concentration in their bath, a
recent study concluded that many patients experienced marked improvement
from relief from itching, sleep disturbances, and skin scaling.
Dead Sea Salts are not associated with any side effects.
